Over 220 participants enjoyed a sunny St Patrick's day in the green foothills of Mount Hamilton at our annual event at Joseph Grant Park.
The ideal spring weather helped make this a super day for orienteering, and many individuals and groups took advantage of this by enjoying a second course.
Runners on the Brown course had the option to change to the Silver course on the fly, a short-cut from Brown, printed on the same map. Several runners took the Silver option for a partial respite from the hilly terrain, while maintaining the advanced level of technical orienteering.
For this event, we used SYNAPS waterproof paper, which is US-made and has been used recently in several large US events. This avoided the need for map cases, and seemed to be well received. The club will be evaluating its use for future events.
Many volunteers helped to make the event happen.
