Joe Grant Park was the site of the Western Region Interscholastic Championships as well as a regular B-meet on March 14, 2010. Jay Hann organized the Championships as well as performing all the epunch duties for the B-meet.
Many other volunteers contributed to the success of the meet. Rex Winterbottom was instrumental in covering for the late arrival of the rental esticks by presenting an in-depth beginners clinic. Don Richey and Wes Erck helped with setup. Joan Roos provided first-aid coverage. Vicki Woolworth helped with starts. Scott Novotny, Wes Erck, Rod Sinks, Mark Sinks, Greg Favor, Mark Blair, Laurens Fein, and Lauren MacMullen helped with control pickup. A big thanks goes to Kelly Wells and Jim Fish, who set the courses and performed many tasks beyond the call of duty. Thank you all for helping make this event successful.
Over 135 contestants participated. Hannah Kopisch blazed through the White course for first, followed by Katie Petersen and Natalie Pelayo. On Yellow, Julia Doubson came in first, with Sharon Evans in second and Jessica Finch in third. Abraham Gordon won Orange, followed by John & Elizabeth Wilson in second and Gary Kraght in third. On Long Orange, Nick Giori came in first, followed by Andrew Peterson in second. David Jorgensen won Brown, with Stefan Stefanov in second and Derek Sibilia in third. On Green, Kent Ohlund came in first, followed by Mark Petersen in second and Chuck Spalding in third. Tapio Karras won Red, with Matthias Kohler in second and Peter Graham in third. On Blue, Dennis Wilkinson came in first, followed by Rex Winterbottom in second and Vladimir Gusiatnikov in third.
